Tributes This Memorial Page Established by-Renee Mercado In Honor Of ARMY SPC. Genaro Acosta My brother ARMY SPC. Genaro Acosta was a soldier based in Fort Hood Texas. He had been in the Army since 2000. Genaro was deployed to Iraq in April of 2003. He celebrated his 26th birthday in Iraq. In October of 2003 he re-enlisted. He also was asked if he would like to come home for the holidays. He said no because good byes are to hard to say. On November 11, 2003 Genaro detonated 2 roadside bombs in Taji, Iraq and was killed instantly. On December 13 of 2003 his comrades from Fort Hood, captured Saddam Hussein. Genaro was a loving father, beloved son, great brother, and an good husband. We are very grateful for the short time we had but we will cherish it forever! April 24, 2011 SSG(Ret.)
