My husband Sgt. Dayne Darren Dhanoolal was born in Trinidad on Dec. 7, 1981
Darren lost his life on March 31, 2008 while driving a
huskey doing route clearance in Baghdad, Iraq. An EFP came through his window killing him
instantly. He is most remembered by his huge beautiful smile and distinctive laugh that was
contageous. Darren (as I called him) was my bestfriend an my everything. We had just gotten
married on Valentines Day, just 3 weeks before he deployed on March 10, 2007. He was taken
from us just 3 weeks before he was scheduled to come back home. We were so excited about
the homecoming and we had so many plans. We wanted a family. Darren had just re-enlisted
for 6 more years in Jan. 2008. We had our whole future to look forward to together, but now
that will never be.

Darren loved playing his Xbox and spending time with me and my family. He and my dad were
close...like father and son. On sundays my dad would always cook Darren's favorite...fried
fish, rice, corn bread, and collard greens. Darren always told my dad to save him the
hamhocks (flavor for the greens)that my dad normally would just throw away after cooking
the greens. LOL! He also loved coming to the BBQs at my parents house. He was the most
outspoken, honest, caring, and funny person I know. I miss him so much! He was so much
fun to be around. He was always the life of the party. He was loved and respected by his
soldiers and everyone that ever knew him. His death has affected EVERYONE so much. Our
lives will never be the same without him. Darren was the best! There's not a day that goes by
that he's not thought about or mentioned. He will never be forgotten. We love you Darren!!!

Darren you are missed more than any words can say. You touched us at hello from the first
day we met you. Never had we ever taken to anyone the way we took to you. You were you!!
That is what made you so special and your Laughter made you stand out in any crowd. The
love and respect you gave to our daughter and the respect you showed to our family won our
hearts from the beginning. Not a day goes by that we don;t speak of you. Your forever in our
hearts and always on our minds. WE love you Darren. Until we meet again one day. God

Here is a video of Darren in Baghdad,Iraq showing his room in Feb. 2008. Making the best
out of any situation...as he always did. He had the cutest Trinidadian Accent! We love and
miss you Darren!
