Tributes This Memorial Page Established by-SFC Rod Brewer In Honor Of SGT Shane P. Duffy, OIF June 4, 2008 Sergeant Shane P. Duffy, 22, enlisted in March 2004 and completed basic and advance individual training at Fort Benning, Georgia. The Taunton, Massachusetts, native was assigned to Fort Drum in August 2004 and served his entire military career with 1-87 Inf Regt. Duffy deployed to Iraq from with 1st BCT from August 2005 to July 2006. His military education includes the Combat Lifesaver Course and the Air Assault Course. Duffy's awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal,Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman badge and the Air Assault Badge. He is survived by his wife, daughter and parents. FORT DRUM- Three Mountain Division Soldiers were killed June 4, 2008 when they were engaged by enemy forces with small-arms fire and hand grenades while their unit was assaulting a building near Hawijah, Iraq. Sgt. Shane P. Duffy, Sgt. Cody R. Legg, and Spc. Jonathan D. Emard, were all assigned to 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum. New York.
