Tributes This Memorial Page Established by-SFC Rod Brewer In Honor Of SPC. Jonathan D. Emard, OIF June 4, 2008 Specialist Jonathan D. Emard, 20, entered the Army in March 2006 and completed basic and advance individual training at Fort Benning, Georgia. A native of Mesquite, Texas, Emard was assigned to Fort Drum in July 2006. Emard's awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal,and the Combat Infantryman badge. He is survived by his parents. FORT DRUM- Three Mountain Division Soldiers were killed June 4, 2008 when they were engaged by enemy forces with small-arms fire and hand grenades while their unit was assaulting a building near Hawijah, Iraq. Sgt. Shane P. Duffy, Sgt. Cody R. Legg, and Spc. Jonathan D. Emard, were all assigned to 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum. New York.
