| Tributes This Memorial Page Established by-Dawn Hopkins In Honor Of LCpl Johnathan E Kirk Marine Lance Cpl. Johnathan Ernest Kirk, 25, of Belhaven, North Carolina (Pamlico Beach community) died May 1, 2007 from wounds received while conducting combat operations on April 23, 2007 in Al Anbar province, Iraq, only three weeks into his tour of duty. He was assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was a 2000 graduate of Northside High School in Pinetown, North Carolina and earned a degree from Beaufort County Community College in electrical work. Johnathan became our Hero when he first decided to join the United States Marine Corp. He and my son were best buds (as well as cousins); I don't think there was anything they wouldn't do for each other. When he came to visit after boot camp, I hardly recognized the man he had become. I was, and always will be, so proud of our "Superman". Posted with love by Dawn Hopkins in Honor of Our Hero, LCpl Johnathan E Kirk, on what would have been his 26th birthday (March 24, 2008). Rest in peace; we love and miss you dearly. 1. LCpl Johnathan Kirk served his country with pride 2. He was named posthumous Grand Marshall for our towns July 4th 2007 celebration 3.
