Dear Friends:
Right now I sit before my computer having read an e-mail from a Gold Star mother and viewed
the pictures of her son, his grave at Arlington and his memorial bench.  The tears come freely,
because though I never knew Brandon I know many Brandon ’s.  Young men, fit, funny and
brave.  I’ve even had to say goodbye to a friend and some of my boys who gave their all in
Iraq so Brandon isn’t a stranger.


This mother is sending care packages and things to our Marines – still giving when she and
her family have given so much.  I know those who read this e-mail are just like Tammy and
Alan (Brandon’s Mom and Dad) in your support of our troops.  All I ask of you today is take
time to thank God for these young men and take time to tell someone Brandon Van Parys
died to protect them from evil whether they understand it or not.  In a small this my way of
honoring a brave Marine.
