Tributes This Memorial Page Established by-George and Marynell Winslow In Honor Of Lance Corporal Ryan Winslow Our son, Lance Corporal Ryan Winslow, graduated from Parris Island in May of 2005. He was always service oriented and had the lifetime goal of becoming a police officer. He felt the best training he could receive would be obtained by serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. After 1 year of taking criminal justice classes at a community college, he enlisted . After basic training, then combat training, he was selected to be trained as a TOW gunner. These men were assigned to the Scout Platoon, 2nd Tanks, Camp Lejeune. Ryan looked forward to deployment. He felt well trained and confident. The men he served with were the best in the Marine Corps. He was so proud of his platoon, and that he was a Marine. Ryan deployed on 3/25/06, and was working in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq when his humvee encountered an IED on 4/15/06. Ryan, our hero, and 2 other brave young men died that day. We thank all of these men and women for their courageous service. As Christians, we know that we will see Ryan again one day, and thank God for this blessing, as well as the wonderful 19 years we had with Ryan. |
