LLEARNING- HANDS ON
Young Warrior Day at Camp Pendleton was a blast for the nearly 100 kids that came to
work with their parents who are currently serving in the United States Marine Corp.  This
day was filled with demonstrations in Martial Arts, exploring the aircraft of the air wing, fire
fighting demonstrations, physical fitness training (PT), eatting MRE's, weapon displays,
experiences with Night Vision Googles (NVG), obstacle courses, "CAMO" face painting,
Vegelance Tattoos, Special Young Warrior Dog Tags for the event and lots and lots of
great FUN and memories.

The kids of all ages were provided the opportunity to explore all the aspects of what it is
like to be a "Marine" for the day.  The learned alot about the things their moms or dads do
on a daily basis to defend our country and FREEDOM.  It was a great experience for all.
The Marines were having a great time showing their children the incredible things they do
at work. For the children who had parents deployed... we had special host marines to
show the kids around.   Our goal with time and finances is to be able to provide this
experience to as many Military kids aka  "Military Brats"  as possible.   This was a truly
enjoyable day.  All the children were given certificates of achivements and honored as
"Young Warriors of Vegelance 469".   - Hoorah

Our Heroes Journey also had special guests.... The Carlsbad Lancers Pop Warner team,
who volunteer their time off the field along with their dedicated coaching staff, were
treated to this special day too.  These boys will be providing volunteer time at several
events over the next few months for this squadron.  Rumor has it, that some of the
Marines and football players befriended one another.  A few of the Marines will attend the
Football games of these players.

Our Heroes Journey had the great privilege to help host Squadron
469 "
Spring Family Day" at Camp Pendleton.

We had a great day with many of the families of this squadron.  Our Heroes Journey
assisted the Easter Bunny, and was able to provide all the special  treats and spring
"beach pails"  and special stuffed eggs for the children.  The kids had a blast on the
egg hunt, coloring easter eggs, feeding the ducks on the lake and all the fun activities
in the park.  It was so wonderful to meet all the children of this squadron and spend
such a special family day with them.  The families were treated to a BBQ with  all the
fixings.  The 7-11  corporation helped us to provide some yummy sandwiches for the
families, as well.
Our Fallen soldier is proud to announce that on January 2010, we  met our goal and  launched a much needed program "Our Heroes
Journey".

This program was launched in direct response to the incredible needs facing our military today.  For the first time in US history our
servicemen and women are experiencing rapid and multiple deployments.  This has caused tremendous emotional and financial hardships
for their families  that are left behind.  This is a boots on the ground operation, we do a lot more than write checks. These Marines are our
family and we interact with the families as often as possible.

Our Heroes Journey is the only project of it's kind.  We address the families' needs during deployment by providing community activities,
care and supplemental financial assistance for "adopted" units or squadrons.

We have adopted our first group of Marines from Camp Pendleton and their families.  Recently, they deployed to support Operation
Enduring Freedom.

It is our hope that we can adopt  at least one more group before the end of the year.  We have had such a great time getting to know our
new adopted families and are excited about all the great activities we have planned during the deployment.  One of our regular activities
will include doing "Care Package Pack Ups" with the families and sending them to combat lines to their loved ones to boost morale.

It is our wish that these families feel supported and that they remain stable and happy throughout deployment.  Every soldier deserves a
happy home to come home too.
